DESCRIPTION
The TT Side Pocket 17 is a slim 6.5-liter side pocket for backpacks with a sufficiently high MOLLE surface. It was designed, among others, for the TT First Responder 50 and the TT FR Move On MK II, but is also suitable for other carriers if the grid height and attachment points match. Unlike a simple outer pocket, it offers a padded, repositionable divider inside as well as MOLLE hook-and-loop for further organization.
The black version does not change the basic function; dimensions, mounting surface, and planned load remain the most important selection criteria. For the selection, it is crucial that you do not only look at the model name, but also consider the mounting surface, access, and planned load together. A pouch is sensibly chosen when the contents have a clear purpose and the bag at the intended location does not obstruct other modules or movements.
What is the TT Side Pocket 17 suitable for?
- additional side volume on compatible backpacks
- separate storage for sensitive or clearly assignable equipment
- setups where a high, narrow pocket is more favorable than a wide front pouch
- modular interior organization with hook-and-loop or MOLLE-compatible elements
Features and use in detail
- Padded divider: A repositionable divider splits the interior into two stacked areas and protects separated items better from each other.
- MOLLE hook-and-loop inside: The inner surface can accommodate additional hook-and-loop or compatible organization modules.
- Removable compression straps: The bag can be pulled tighter to the backpack when less full.
- Daisy chain and bungee cord: Front loops and elastic cord create additional fixation options for light accessories.
- MOLLE-Reverse: The integrated attachment straps are guided directly through the grid; three MOLLE loops are required.
- Defined outer dimensions: With 44 × 15 × 10 cm, you can check before purchasing whether the bag has enough space in the intended position and does not block other modules.
- Material suitable for use: The version uses CORDURA® 700 den. It is not just the material name that is decisive, but also that seams, attachment, and load match the planned stress.
The padded divider can be repositioned inside the bag and separates the interior into two stacked areas. This is helpful if sensitive or differently sized items should not lie on top of each other.
On the outside, daisy chains, removable compression straps, and bungee cord supplement the fixation. The bag is attached via MOLLE-Reverse and requires three MOLLE loops in width.
Terms explained simply
- MOLLE-Reverse: With the MOLLE-Reverse system, the attachment straps are located directly on the bag. You guide them through the MOLLE loops of the carrying surface; as a rule, you do not need a separate adapter.
- MOLLE hook-and-loop: MOLLE hook-and-loop combines a loop-velcro surface with a modular grid. This allows hook-and-loop modules and suitable attachment elements to be positioned flexibly within the same surface.
- Bungee: Bungee cord is an elastic cord. It can be used for compressing, securing, or quickly fixing light equipment and can be tensioned using a cord stopper.
- CORDURA: CORDURA is a particularly abrasion- and tear-resistant polyamide fabric. The denier number describes the thread thickness in simple terms: higher values usually stand for a stronger fabric, while lower values can save weight.
Selection advice
Measure the available surface on the backpack before purchasing. It is not just the 6.5 liters of volume that are decisive, but the high design of around 44 cm and the three required MOLLE loops. For small daypacks, the bag may be too long.
