DESCRIPTION

Wolfhound Hoodie Lite Jacket - shadow grey is the ultra-light version of the Wolfhound with a hood and a shortened front zipper. It was designed as a quick-to-don thermal layer for movement, the transition period, and changing conditions. The shadow grey color does not change the technical construction: light weight, compact pack size, synthetic insulation, and a wind-breaking, hydrophobic-treated nylon material are the focus.

Hood and half-zip at just around 261 grams

Helikon-Tex specifies a weight of approximately 261 g for the Hoodie Lite. The jacket uses 40 g/m² synthetic insulation and is thus designed for moderate temperatures, movement, and a very small pack size. The hood increases protection for the head without the need for a separate hat to be immediately at hand. The shortened zipper reduces material and keeps the front design simple.

The Hoodie Lite cut is particularly interesting if you often pull the jacket on only for breaks or short, cooler sections. Thanks to the pullover design, the upper body remains enclosed, while heat can still be released via the front zip. In contrast, the full-zip version is more comfortable for frequent putting on and taking off in indoor spaces or vehicles.

Design and features

  • approx. 261 g light
  • 40 g/m² synthetic insulation
  • light, wind-breaking nylon outer material
  • hydrophobic/DWR surface treatment
  • ergonomic, adjustable hood
  • shortened YKK® front zipper
  • two side pockets plus chest pocket
  • elastic cuffs
  • adjustable hem
  • very small pack size

What distinguishes the Wolfhound family

The basic principle is similar in all Wolfhound models: A synthetic insulation layer is combined with a light, fast-drying outer material. The advantage over classic down lies primarily in the fact that synthetic insulation retains its structure and a large part of its thermal performance even when damp. At the same time, the pack size remains small enough to carry the jacket as a reserve in a daypack, vehicle, or travel bag.

The hydrophobic or DWR-treated exterior helps to repel light precipitation, splash water, and dirt. This does not make the jacket waterproof. In case of persistent rain, a real hardshell belongs on top. It is precisely as part of such a layering system that the Wolfhound series shows its strength: low weight, quickly available warmth, and significantly better wind protection than open-pored fleece.

When is the hood worth the small weight difference?

During windy breaks, on an open ridge, while waiting at a vehicle, or on cool morning stages, a hood can provide more comfort than a slightly more heavily insulated torso without head protection. This is exactly where the Hoodie Lite comes in: It does not provide heavy cold insulation, but rather a quickly available, all-around enclosed thermal layer. Because the insulation remains thin, it can also be worn under a sufficiently spacious hardshell.

For athletic activity, you should not combine the jacket with too many warm layers. Synthetic insulation works best when it buffers heat without you overheating significantly. If the intensity increases, open the front zip or take the jacket off; close it again during the break. This keeps the moisture balance in the layering system better under control.

Hoodie Lite, Full-Zip Lite or 67g Wolfhound?

The Wolfhound Lite Jacket is almost equally light but has no hood and can be ventilated and put on/taken off faster via the full-length zipper. It is particularly suitable for urban, EDC, travel, and frequently changing indoor/outdoor situations. The Wolfhound Hoodie Jacket 67 g, with Climashield® Apex™ 67 g/m², is the warmer level and offers more reserve in cooler conditions, during longer breaks, and with lower activity.

Who is the Wolfhound Hoodie Lite suitable for?

  • for light outdoor and transition insulation
  • for users who prefer an integrated hood
  • for quick break and reserve warmth
  • for tours with limited backpack volume
  • as a light intermediate layer under weather protection
  • for everyday life, travel, and vehicle equipment

In shadow grey, the function remains identical. The Hoodie Lite is the right choice if you want to keep the minimal weight of the Wolfhound Lite but do not want to do without an integrated hood.
