TRAMONTANE weighs 120 g and compresses into a chest pocket (the so-called self-pack) to the size of a soda can. Stowed this way, it even fits into a trouser pocket. The light weight of the TRAMONTANE jacket is noticeable when worn - it protects against wind and at the same time does not restrict movement; you might even forget you're wearing it. In colder periods, it makes a great set with a fleece or combat shirt from the Patrol line.
The TRAMONTANE jacket is made of very light, yet durable WindPack® Nylon. It is a quick-drying, non-absorbent material, additionally treated with DWR (Durable Water Repellency) impregnation, so it will repel light rain or snow. Even if it gets wet, the Tramontane jacket dries very quickly. It also zips up the entire length, providing good ventilation. The drawstring at the bottom edge of the jacket, the elastic cuffs, and the adjustable hood allow you to keep warm inside when needed.
Windproof jackets from Helikon-Tex are named after different types of wind. The TRAMONTANE jacket takes its name from the cool northerly or northeasterly wind prevalent in the Mediterranean region.
