Aggressive cleaning additives and high water temperature would only harm the blade. After use, clean the knife by hand with lukewarm water and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. If the blade is not used for a longer period of time, it can be preserved with a few drops of acid-free oil. A characteristic feature of carbon steels is the so-called patina. It forms after a short time. This is completely normal and not harmful to the blade.
